MCMC is now harassing Malaysiakini over the two videos showing the cow-head incident and our Home Minister’s press conference in the company of the perpetrators.
We should support Malaysiakini’s stand for standing up against the unwarranted harassment as its video slogan or motto, ‘Small lens Wide views No lies’ sums up best its honourable role as an independent online news portal.
The Home Minister’s insistence on having the videos taken off is further proof that he had been defending the indefensible acts by his own party members and is obviously ashamed of it.
Umno leaders have yet to learn that defending a stupid act only compounds the defender’s stupidity for all to see.
He should have realised that it is impossible to delete anything in the internet. The more one tried to cover up, the more the public would be interested in the subject. What good is it if Malaysiakini were to listen to MCMC and take off the two videos? They are already on Youtube and possibly linked or uploaded in countless websites and blogsites all over the world.
The greater the controversy as a result of high-handedness on the part of the authorities would only increase the number of hits of those websites. By taking action to please their political masters, MCMC will be looked upon without respect by the foreigners involved or about to be involved in our Multi-media Super Corridor, which has a guarantee from the government to have minimum government control.
Let's take a look at some readers' comments in Malaysiakini:
