916 or 1609

Mention 916, and my wife would think of the gold standard equivalent of 22 carat gold. But most people would also think of Anwar's dream (Umno's nightmare) of getting enough MPs to cross over from BN to form a new government last year.

Now we have Haris Ibrahim's idea of 1609 (so as not to be confused with 916?) of 'One Country, One Bangsa, Bangsa Malaysia', a commendable effort but likely to meet strong resistance from the Tuans who have much to lose under such a proposal.

Najib's One Malaysia is taken as a joke among well-informed public who cannot see how it can be when there is no real equality among the races. It would have been better to let things be, until we are ready to be considered one. At the moment, our country is in the following state:
