How should we judge a government?

What if no Chinese ministers in Malaysian Cabinet?

MCA leaders had collectively decided not to accept cabinet posts if they did worse than GE12. Well, there is not doubt they did worse when they won only 7 parliamentary seats, down from 15.

MCA President, Dr Chua Soi Lek had indicated that they will stick to their earlier promise (seems more like a threat to Chinese voters that if they did not support MCA, there will be no Chinese representation in BN cabinet), and that he will not defend his position in the next AGM.

But one way out of this is that if Dr Chua resigns, then his deputy, Liow Tiong Lai can convene another committee meeting and decide to accept cabinet posts offered by Najib. This is likely to be one way out, to continue giving some semblance of multi-racial representation in BN administration. They are quite happy with form over substance.

To the ordinary Chinese, it makes no difference at all, whether there are any Chinese ministers, because all of them are yes-men or yes-women with glorious titles and perks that come with the positions. They might share in the usual enrichment process too, but what is that to other Chinese? Of course, further down the hierarchy, there are those who depend on contracts dished out. In other words, only Chinese who depend on MCA-controlled contracts will be badly affected, not the average man in the street.

The price of being part of BN administration is being accused of complicity in all the excesses of Umno, especially in large scale corruption. For this, MCA had paid heavily in the GE12 and more so in the just concluded GE13.
