Yesterday, I woke up at 3.45am (though alarm set for 4.00am) to get ready to drive to Batu Gajah railway station for the train from Ipoh to KL scheduled to arrive at 4.50am.
On my return journey, I arrived BG around 3.45pm, which made it almost exactly 12 hours, inclusive of five and a half hours of train rides to and fro.
The reason for the trip was to get back my son’s car registration card and letter from Eon Bank in Kepong Baru. I had to book according to what was available during the busy school holiday which meant the unearthly hour for departure and early return at 1.00 pm!
Fortunately, the outward trip included a stop at Kepong Sentral at 7.15am, which was deemed suitable for my brother-in-law to come from Desa Park City to fetch me for breakfast! What a welcome when I saw his son and daughter-in-law as well that early in the morning! We went to fetch one of my brothers in Bukit Maluri for BahKutTeh in Taman Kepong (I think, changed beyond my recognition), which was run by a former neighbour in Taman Million off Jalan Ipoh.
For the return trip, I had to take it from KL Sentral because Kepong Sentral was not a scheduled stop, which meant I had to take a Komuter train to KL Sentral. I opted to go early and wait and I was at KL Sentral with 2 hours to kill. Called up my buddy and he was willing to take a break from monitoring KLSE share prices to join me for a chat over lunch.
My list of things to do can be classified under ‘things I wish to do’, things I have to do’ and ‘things I plan to do’ and maybe something in between. Therefore, when Tony Pua invited me (in Facebook) for his ‘pow wow’ with Khairy at Marriott, which was on Wednesday, I wished I could attend but being two days before my trip to KL, I had to give it a miss. To be honest, I am not a fan of Khairy and to take the trouble to see him, was certainly not one of my ‘wish to do’ things. Furthermore, the venue was Marriott (the ‘no mellot no melly’ where car parking charges are expensive in or around the Bintang Walk! Nevertheless, I really appreciate Tony for being thoughtful.
