How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

David vs Goliath = Principles vs Might is Right

Pak Lah questioned, "Why can’t the Speaker wait for the court decision? He has created controversies and problems…”

But who created the problem in the first place? Who couldn’t wait for State Assembly to show your majority?

Tajol Rosli said, “We wanted fresh elections when they had 31 and we 28. Now we had 31 and they 28, they wanted fresh elections.”

But if you can’t see the difference between a general election results and a power grab, then you will remain as the most insignificant MB of Perak.

In hindsight, it was Najib who created this power grab and will go down in history as the most unethical leader of Malaysia.

The constitutional problems in Perak have created two new ‘heroes’ in Menteri Besar, Nizar and Speaker, Sivakumar, for facing up to the might of the Executive. There is no doubt about it.

There are State Assemblymen and there are Members of Parliament, but it takes a difficult situation to bring out the qualities of a true leader.

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comforts and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy!" - Martin Luther King
