Sometimes, in the West, caring for the well-being of animals and other living things gets to ludicrous levels. Just came across this advertisement for a film, which ends with the notice, 'No worms were harmed in the making of this film.'
But this post is about how the media can stereo-type different races:
A man is taking a walk in Central park in New York . Suddenly he seesa little girl being attacked by a pit bull dog.
He runs over and starts fighting with the dog. He succeeds in killing the dog and saving the girl's life.
A policeman who was watching the scene walks over and says: 'You are a hero, tomorrow you can read it in all the newspapers:'Brave New Yorker saves the life of little girl'.
The man says: 'But I am not a New Yorker!
'Oh then it will say in newspapers in the morning:'Brave American saves life of little girl' the policeman answers.
'But I am not an American!' - says the man.
'Oh, what are you then?'
The man says: 'I am a Pakistani!'
The next day the newspapers say: 'Extremist kills innocent American dog!!'
How should we judge a government?
In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!
"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain
Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham
"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan
