Margaret (sorry for earlier mistake) teasing and making me envious?
Like last year, I made Mufaro's birthday cake with a car theme. This time, I decorated the plain chocolate cake with the toy of his favourite "Macqueen" red sportscar character from the animated film, Cars. Apparently, it was a hit in his class!
I am finally getting the hang of making cinnamon rolls, or more generally, anything which involves yeast, dough proofing and/or kneading. So much so that I used the excuse of making dairy-free ones for Margaret (see picture) who is lactose-intolerant and has never tried one before. Ah, the little joys of Maastricht. :)
My rattling old Dutch bike was stolen a few days ago in front of the Economics Faculty. It was partly "my fault" as we, good foreigners, should have known about the big "don'ts" in protecting their bicycles from thefts (in the case, don't park your bike outdoors overnight, even if they are heavily chain-locked). Dominik thought it was good riddance, which I don't disagree but it does annoy me that I have to scour over town looking for a secondhand bike. Plus, I have to buy a new lock which costs EUR20, half the price of what I am willing to pay for the bike itself. Maybe I shouldn't complain - having your bike stolen is about as "exciting" as it gets here in small town Maastricht. ;)
Take care for now!
