How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

TMNet down again

Just to put on record that I could not connect this morning. After a long session at breakfast, I came back and called 1300 88 9515 and was transferred to their technical department. I explained that I had experienced similar problem twice recently and after being promised a technician would come round, I could re-connect without him making a visit. Again, I was promised a technician would come round. I had late lunch and went into the local internet cafe to check mail, read some updated posts in some links and stock prices. I could do so (without opening all emails) within half an hour!

Just after 4 pm, I reluctantly tried connecting without going through a splitter and I got connected! Just to prove that it was not due to the splitter, I disconnected and tried to reconnect again using it and was successful. I don't really know what to make of it. I was told it could be due to outside cable problem. It seems there are separate cables for analog (phone) and digital (data).

If this 'on' and 'off' connection problem continues I am thinking of alternative ISP.
