Recently, I received an invitation to apply for a supplementary card, with offers of cash reward and chances of getting gifts based on the amounts spent by the card-holder. I was never tempted by such offers because it does not make sense for someone like me to spend unnecessarily just because of some gifts.
My youngest needed a card for her work-related international travel, so it was such a pleasant coincidence to have received the application form. Applied online as well as faxed a hard copy and photocopy of NRIC. Just got a call from UOBCCC that because my card is club-based, I should apply through the club. But I pointed out to the girl that the club does not accept children above 18 to be supplementary cardholders. Then it dawned on me that it was a waste of time. Because my card is club-based, I need to go through the club, and based on the conditions as pointed out to me, only spouse can have a supplementary credit card. So the application form sent to me was useless! I was told to apply for a normal credit card and then a supplementary! Why would I do that? Might as well ask her to apply for one on her own merit!
