How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

PM said it best when he said nothing at all

DPM said he is Malay first, then Malaysian. PM defended him by saying there is nothing wrong with that. Both are top leaders, being Deputy President and President respectively, of racist party, UMNO, rulers of our country since day 1, on 31 August, 1957.

PM came out with 1Malaysia and spent millions publicizing its concept which seems difficult to understand and people wonder why. I was about 7 years old when our country gained its independence from Britain. I still cannot understand Malaysia's concept of equality, freedom of speech, justice and other related statements made by our leaders over 52 years. The reason? Statements made by PM and other ministers did not make sense to the ordinary people, so much so that they do not listen to their leaders anymore.

For example, how could it be possible to have equal rights, then Malays with special rights and privileges, AND, no one will be left out? With limited resources, anything reserved for a group will be at the expense of the others. I just wish they are honest about it instead of harping on something which is untrue and make us look like fools.

1Malaysia concept as everyone would normally think, is supposed to be inclusive. Yet, we have all kinds of discriminatory policies still in place and you can bet, they are not going to go away just yet... not for a long time, unless there is a change in the next general elections.

When DPM said he is Malay first, then Malaysian, he was only being honest because he is No.2 leader of Umno, the party that champions Malay rights and privileges. When PM defended his statement, he too was being honest about it, he being No.1 leader of Umno. But that would in effect render 1Malaysia to the bin! We cannot have the cake and still eat it, but it appears as though in Bolehland, it is possible... but to the disbelief of the people.

I can only conclude that what Najib means is actually 1 Malaysia, Malay First and no matter how he tries to spin, I am not going to budge from that belief.
