How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

Getting positive vibes...

This morning, I walked to order 1 roti canai and 2 thosai and to buy Sunday papers, The Star and New Straits Times; then on my way back to collect the breakfast for home.

On my short journey to town: I heard someone honked and looked back and saw a smiling traffic policeman, Mat Nor and I waved. As I walked back from the newsvendor, a car I recognized as that of Lung Fatt coffee-shop proprietor's, honked and I acknowledged. Then, in front of Salon photoshop, I saw a motorbike with a gas tank and who but a smiling Suhaimi on it (he was my wife's ex-classmate), again I said hello. I was counting my lucky stars when I walked past the old railway station and again someone honked, and it turned out to be the cushion-maker who recently replaced our car's windscreen. Not bad for a migrant from KL.

You are a natural for making friends, KS. That's what you are!

Thanks Bayi for your compliment and I don't think I deserve it.
Actually, very moody person, especially of late... some calls it men'o'pause.

Couple of days ago, a UK friend wanted to chat when I was online and I actually declined! But my reason was avoiding telling too much after each 'cross-examination'. Family members wondered why someone in UK knows so much about what was happening here!

So my behaviour tends to vary, depending on how I feel at each moment...

A man is men'o'pausal insofar as he allows himself to be so. I think you had a good reason not to chat with your UK friend online. I have a similar situation and so I have chosen to be less active online these days.
