We have the Talent Corps to round up all these itinerant talented Malaysians from all over the world and emplace them in top companies in Malaysia. If that is successful, then we could see the results very soon.
PEMANDU could then publish their achievements with names and figures to encourage more talented Malaysians to come home.
We are at least one generation too late, trying to close the gate after the horses have bolted.
In most cases, they were blessings in disguise because of the lack of opportunities as a result of racial discrimination.
It is human nature, regardless of race that seems to bring out the best in people when they are forced into desperate situations.
There are inherent situations where only top quality positions are available only in foreign countries. For eg. can you expect the Chief Justice of Singapore to come back? Or someone in top position in Cambridge or Oxford University in UK, Harvard or Yale University in USA, is he or she able to enjoy the same kind of prestige and recognition in Malaysia?
I think those who are willing to take up offers are likely to be those who are ready to come back (eg. UK job situations are bad) and /or attracted by the incentives offered by Talentcorp. I hear of some who took advantage and left. There are those who complained of difficult work conditions like uncooperative colleagues, or even unsuitable equipment bought at high costs with no right personnel to man them!
