How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

Dutch mosaic artist, Fabrice

Almost 28 years ago, we shipped back some stuff from UK. Being new to dealing with shipping agent and unsure of our rights and especially the do's and dont's, my wife was irate when she discovered some missing stuff. She refused to accept the boxes and they were returned. Just imagine under such circumstances, how would we know what happened in the process of returning and later accepting them, but claiming insurance for the items lost or broken.

I can still remember some silverwares which were taken out of hand luggage because of excess weight were among the items lost. Many porcelain items collected over the years were broken too. At the time, my wife mentioned that she would try mosaic art from those broken pieces. We still have a tea chest of those which have yet to see the light of day! I am reminded of this because of what Cheng mentioned recently:

Quite randomly, I met local mosaic artist, Fabrice in a neighbourhood bar and discovered that I actually cycle past his mosaic piece every morning to work! Here is a blog with some information about Fabrice and that mosaic piece:
