When we arrived and parked the car at the basement, we met a family and asked if they were going to Aidah's wedding. In the lift, one of them said there was no mention in the invitation card as to which floor and we had to try from 1st to 5th before going back to Ground level. I said we got our invitation by sms and she said, 'Wah, hi-tech now'.
Fadzil was looking out from the hall and was quick to call out upon seeing us. He quickly introduced his wife, a fact which we did not know about, but he later announced to all that they were married on February 7 this year, on his 57th birthday, AND she is expecting a baby in March! All the good news lined up.
His third daughter, Aishah emceed for the occasion while the youngest, Arina busied herself greeting and meeting relatives and friends. We did not get to meet his son, Saiful until we were on our way out.
The groom, Mohd Khalid, is a lecturer at Universiti Petronas, Tronoh, Perak.
As we were 'out of the loop' for many years, I tried to recognize some familiar faces, naturally like us, everyone looks older. I could recognize Dato Sheikh Ahmad, former District Officer of Batu Gajah. Could not resist asking him about what he thinks of my Petition to KTM and he was quick to reply that he had retired and now in Meru.
We were seated next to Awa's aunt, better known as Putih, and she updated us with news of SP's friends and former neighbours. Later, Awa's mother joined us. Even on a happy occasion, she could not control herself upon seeing SP because SP was with Awa when she was already unconscious and she could not help being reminded of her.
