How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

TVB's Cold Blood Warm Heart: Kidnap went awry

Cheong was in financial trouble and had difficulty in secretly using their bank's funds like before.

A plan was hatched to fake his own kidnap. Despite having planned out to the last detail, Kei's car broke down and borrowed Cheong's car. But the instruction was already sent out to carry out the kidnap. When Cheong knew about the unexpected turn of events, he called Lap immediately to cancel order. But by this time, Lap is already a very confident man who is able to make very important decisions. Instead of being a follower, he decided to lead instead. Without Cheong's knowledge and despite his instruction to cancel the kidnap plan, Lap let it through. So Kei ended up being kidnapped instead. The ransom for his release was set at HK$50 million which his father agreed without hesitation. Lap and Cheong were privy to all the family discussions on how to go about it. It was decided that the police are not to be informed. They were tasked to hand over the money to the kidnappers which suits them fine. After ransom was paid, Kei was picked up from a designated place. Things went wrong when still in the car, Kei made known of his suspicion that he knew Lap and Cheong were involved in his kidnap. Lap drove the car to a secluded place and decided, despite Cheong's plea, to kill Kei for knowing too much. Cheong, by now realized how dangerous Lap had become and he could not control him anymore.

Lap, with his sidekick Weng, have become a formidable team. With their past police training and experience they are able to think ahead in their dealings with their ex-colleagues, led by Kin, who are all out to nail them for their increasingly bold criminal activities. Kin is also emotionally involved because of his relationship with Suet and this affected him when carrying out his duties. For a number of times, he was caught for abusing his position as a police officer when dealing with Lap.
