How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

Bersih spirit will still be there...

despite the absence of all its leaders.

The police is again at its worst display of damage control since Bersih has been outlawed and roadblocks set up to check on anything yellow. Now they have obtained court orders to prevent all the leaders of Bersih as well as Perkasa and Umno Youth from entering KL on July 9.

I am sure, the absence of Ambiga and other leaders of Bersih is not going to affect the attendance of the people. The Bersih rally has taken on a life of its own and it will start and gather momentum without anyone giving any specific instructions. As I have mentioned earlier, the people are already confused over the many contradictory statements made by so-called leaders. Even if there is a definitive announcements over television and radio, many people would have missed them and they would not believe if others told them according to what they have seen or heard. Such is the state of confusion of the people.

Many people still live or work in KL, so we can expect the police giving them a hard time no matter how they try to explain why they have to be in KL. A friend has forwarded to me the following details of road closures in KL, you can take it from experience that it is wise to just avoid KL if you can because we know that even with one or two roads closed it would cause massive traffic jams, what more with a whole list of roads :
