How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

What did you miss in this Life?

“Life is a process. It is sad that it does not come the same again; it is glad that the same does not have to come back again.”

In this Life, what did you miss? The husband asked the wife when she was 25.
Despondently, the wife replied: I missed a new job opportunity.
When he was 35, the wife angrily told him that she had just missed the bus.
At 45, the wife sadly said: I missed the opportunity seeing my close relative before her last breath.
At 55, the wife said disappointingly: I missed a good chance to retire.
At 65, the wife hurriedly replied: I missed a dental appointment.
At 75, the husband did not ask the wife anymore. The wife was kneeling in front of the very sick husband. Remembering the question the husband used to ask her, this time she asked the husband the same question. The husband, with a smile and a peaceful look, replied: In this life I did not miss having you!

I am sure for those who have come across the Power Point version must have noticed the difference in my version. Well, I have changed the gender just to show a different side to the story.

During CNY, I chanced upon Mel B's reality television show, It's a Scary World. Mel B or Melanie Brown is aka Scary Spice of Spice Girls. Of course, the best known is still Posh Spice, Victoria Beckham.

Anyway, the show featured Mel B, her husband and daughters in their everyday life. In an interview, her husband was complaining about missing the romance and sex because of her hectic work schedules! So my example above is not far-fetched but getting more and more common these days.

By the way, the funny part of the episode was when her husband ordered a cake for their daughter's graduation day celebration. He spoke to the cake shop person, 'Put the name Phoenix in the middle' and when the cake arrived, it had 'Phoenix in the middle' on it!

Very good reminder for us to treasure who and what we have. Thanks.

Just had a chat with a former classmate who lives in South America and most happily, she told me how at her age, she is finally doing what she loves best - painting, singing and dancing and how she will not have a life filled with regrets.

Carpe diem and every opportunity. God bless.

Thanks Paula. Likely problems to do with different interests of the spouses, or like in the example, a workaholic and a laid back person.

Cheers.
