Recently, our Defence Minister was quoted as having said he is prepared to die in protecting our Prime Minister. In the context of PM's earlier statement about defending to death BN's rule, I think it is alarming that our two senior ministers seem to have confused their loyalty to their party with that of the country.
To a reasonable person, what they meant was they will not give up without physical fight. Now where is the threat coming from? Externally? Not that we have heard of. Internally, there were reports of oppositionists comparing Malaysia with Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and so on. Those were warnings that if we are not careful, our citizens might do the same. But as we all know for sure, the oppositionists are all geared to do 'battle' as in standing for elections in the next General Elections which are expected to be some time this year. We have witnessed how incidents which could spark a revolt in another country did not happen here, thanks to the maturity of the people. High-handed actions by the police might seem to have controlled the separate incidents but most people thought otherwise, that they were provocative and could have started unplanned riots.
Coming back to loyalty. PM's role is to serve the country when he has the mandate, and to hand over peacefully when another party or coalition won the general elections instead. Similarly, Defence Minister is responsible for the defence of the country against external threat, and not to defend the PM with his life! Where this is concerned, we should look at Gadafi's female bodyguards. These are professionals who are willing to die for him, not a minister whose position depends on the people's mandate. Is he under the impression that a defence minister should also be a personal bodyguard of the PM?

Excerpt:
Gaddafi's choice of bodyguards has been the subject of much media attention. His 40-member bodyguard contingent, known as the Amazonian Guard, is entirely female. All women who qualify for duty supposedly must be virgins, and are hand-picked by Gaddafi himself. They are trained in the use of firearms and martial arts at a special academy before entering service.
Gaddafi is already having his own version of heaven on earth by having an entourage of female supposedly virgin body guards that live and will die for him. What is up with that?
His female body guards known as The Amazonian Guard are killing machines. They are trained to protect him and die for him. They also take a vow of chastity and apparently many young women are dying to take on this role. As a matter of fact one got killed saving his life when his convoy was attacked by assasins by throwing herself in the line of fire.
