Muhyiddin: New administration promises direct approach

TAIPING: The new administration promises to be an open government where formalities will be set aside in favour of speed and efficiency.
International Trade and Industry Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has set the pace by going down to meet the people in the street on Saturday.
“From now on, this is going to be our approach. It is going to be direct. There will no longer be pomp and pageantry before we meet the people.
“Similarly, if people have problems, they can come to see us so that their grouses can be attended to immediately,” he said in a speech at Simpang Chinese Primary School near here yesterday.


Well, we shall soon see whether Najib walks the talk. Dr. Mahathir started with ‘Bersih, Cekap dan Amanah’ and what we have is Bersih (the NGO which is not the initiative of government), and Cakap ‘Apanama’…

One thing we can be sure is that there will not be any significant changes to the corruption level. If a strongman like Dr. Mahathir cannot do it, what more his protégé? More likely, selective prosecution to serve own interests, or in other words, more of the same.


If Najib cannot even deliver his promise to tell us the basis of calculating NEP percentage to rebut Dr. Lim Teck Ghee’s, we can expect more of ‘form over substance’ and mere rhetorics to ‘shiok sendiri’.

It is important to draw the line:


This reminds me of MACC’s lack of will and impotence. How could MACC be effective when it turns a blind eye to national leaders who are in charge of huge sums of money, and instead concentrate on the opposition leaders, like a tool of BN?


Just to put in perspective, someone mentioned that the revenues of Selangor state is only one percent of the national revenues.

With just a bit of common sense, I am sure even school leavers could do a better job at choosing the targets for investigation.
