How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

Advantage and Disadvantages of a wedding on April 29 next year

Main advantage is the ease in remembering the same date as the much publicized Royal Wedding of British Prince William and Kate next year. But the disadvantages are many, which include being ignored overtly by guests more interested in the Royal occasion when you should be the centre of attraction.

Important football matches have proven to be reasons for some to miss attending a wedding dinner or other occasions. What is the most important occasion to a couple could just be an obligation to attend (because of the invitation) to others. I have attended a number of wedding dinners where the hosts (usually businessmen) had the impression big in numbers means grand, and all and sundry were invited. In reality, they were more like subscription dinners!

Latest News from The Brewery:

"Birmingham pair Robert Ashby and Angela Smith have been planning their wedding for months, and were “90 percent there” with their plans when they heard the new, having booked their wedding reception venue, caterers, as well as the all-imporant purchases of the dress, suit and rings.

Confident that they had avoided any clashes – such as missing the World Cup, respecting the FA Cup final or other national events – they were shocked at the news.

“Now our guests have a choice: stay at home, line the streets, or come to our wedding. We thought we were alright!” says Ashby."
