How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

If you're not going to speak up, how is the world supposed to know you exist? “Orang boleh pandai setinggi langit, tapi selama ia tidak menulis, ia akan hilang di dalam masyarakat dan dari sejarah.” - Ananta Prameodya Toer (Your intellect may soar to the sky but if you do not write, you will be lost from society and to history.)

Who is to say these are what God wouldn't ask?

Ten things God won't ask on that day:

1.He won't ask what kind of car you drove.
He'll ask how many people you drove who didn't have transportation.

2.He won't ask the square footage of your house,
He'll ask how many people you welcomed into your home.

3.He won't ask about the clothes you had in your closet,
He'll ask how many you helped to clothe.

4.He won't ask what your highest salary was.
He'll ask if you compromised your character to obtain it.

5.He won't ask what your job title was.
He'll ask if you performed your job to the best of your ability.

6.He won't ask how many friends you had.
He'll ask how many people to whom you were a friend.

7.He won't ask in what neighbourhood you lived,
He'll ask how you treated your neighbours.

8.He won't ask about the colour of your skin,
He'll ask about the content of your character.

9.He won't ask why it took you so long to seek Salvation.
He'll lovingly take you to your mansion in Heaven, and not to the gates of Hell.

10.He won't have to ask how many people you forwarded this to,
He already knows your decision.

I suppose with religion, we are not supposed to intellectualize but to have faith in Him.
