Whether it was then or now, in my humble opinion, there are specific reasons whether it is better to text or to call. For eg., to avoid others around us from listening to a private telephone conversation, texting is best. The other good reason would be when the other person is overseas or out of town and calls would be expensive. Again, whether it is worthwhile to make a call would depend on its urgency or necessity. Under normal circumstances, a call is not only immediately answered (unless misplaced unintentionally) and matters sorted out, it is also more polite and respectful. I might personally feel a bit slighted (depending on the person and circumstances), when I receive a text instead of a call, as I tend to get the impression the person does not wish to even talk to me!
How should we judge a government?
In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!
"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain
Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham
"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan
