This picture reminds me of Lai Foong coffeeshop where we had been for beef soup noodles a few years ago. Note the two Chinese characters (Seng Kee) on a pillar (near right) which was the name of another famous old restaurant which was gone long before Yoke Woo Hing. To me, it was famous for its fried spring rolls (Choon Kin) which were unlike others: big and tough to chew. My father used to buy them for us and I used to hate its taste because of a certain vegetable in it (Chinese parsley I think), but when the restaurant was gone, I actually missed it!
The car in the picture looks like a Morris Oxford, a bigger version of Morris Minor.

Building in front ( now 6 floors ) is Hakka Fui Chew Association. Present day Kota Raya Complex is next to it on the right.
Road on left is (was ) the very popular Cross Street, present Day Jalan Silang, with the Tai Tai ( Chinese rich ladies ) of the 50s - 70s era consisting of mainly Chinese gold smith shops. Some of the shops are still in business today, but facing competition from shopping malls and complex based gold smith shops.
