Apartment owners are likely to be living away from the resort. Therefore, when making periodic payments, they are required to bank in their cheques and fax copy of bank-in slips to their management in Damai Laut as proof of payment. This is a requirement by their Head Office in KL.
Yesterday, I had problems (paper jamming) with my fax machine. I called up the person on duty at Damai Laut, asking if it was alright if I were to provide information of the date and amount of payment relating to our unit. I explained that since it was proof they wanted (photocopy of bank-in slip), the fact that their bank receipts would include my payment (without details but which I was willing to provide), why is there a need for further proof? If ever there is a dispute, then I can easily provide the copy of the bank-in slip. But she was afraid it would not be acceptable to Head Office! The most important aspect in this case is payment, which I am sure the cheque would be honoured, what then is the fuss about copy of bank-in slip just to meet some internal system requirement? Isn't there any room for the use of discretion anymore?
