I do not know much about IT, but having a close friend who used to be a software engineer, I am bombarded with frequent updates on computers, mobile phones and the like, as well as their OS or operating systems. I was introduced to Linux (open system) many years ago, and was told it was to open up the monopoly held by Microsoft Corp. and their Windows, which could be found in almost every computer before. Well, Apple has their own unique systems, and they are still holding on well to their innovative products. Since then, the IT world had seen giant corporations created, like Google, and lately, Facebook, which made their founders multi-billionaires. I get the impression that Linus could have been as rich as, if not more than, Bill Gates, had he been more mercenary in his approach.
My friend has been informing me of all the advantages of Android, and lately NFC (Near Field Communication), which he thinks would be the tools of the future in mobile phones and convenience in payments or even for checking purposes before boarding at air or other terminals.
So it was supposed to be a great endorsement that the founder of Linux uses an Android phone...
Linus Torvalds uses an Android phone

Look up Wikipedia, for his achievements...

Depending on when we get involved with computers, his early computers were nothing to shout about by today's standards, but certainly better than those mainframe computers which were huge like filing cabinets (with embarrassingly small memory!) and need continuous air-conditioning to maintain them...
"His interest in computers began with a Commodore VIC-20.[13] After the VIC-20 he purchased a Sinclair QL, which he modified extensively, especially its operating system. He programmed an assembly language and a text editor for the QL, as well as a few games.[14] He is known to have written aPac-Man clone named Cool Man. On January 5, 1991[15] he purchased an Intel 80386-based IBM PC[16] before receiving his MINIX copy, which in turn enabled him to begin work on Linux.[8][17]"
