There are differences. For example, prepaid sim cards on special offer do not have the same F&F. For example, my prepaid can have 8 Digi numbers plus 3 non-Digi numbers, while another one bought on offer, can have only Digi numbers. But this is just a minor problem.
Lately, I have had problems calling my daughter's Digi number. Each time, it did not get through or went into voicemail, even though she was not using it. My perception was that it was a ploy by Digi to enforce me calling another time, to make up for the so-called cheap rate.
This morning, my wife got off to visit the dental specialist in Jelapang, and I continued my journey to Tan Chong in Jalan Kuala Kangsar, to renew my motor insurance. When I came for her, I was really lucky to see her walking along the covered walkway right in front of my car within the dental complex. It was raining at the time and she was without an umbrella. Anyway, she said she was about to call me, but as it turned out, it was not necessary.
On our way back to BG, she had to go the other dental clinic to make an appointment. It was a long wait which involved me driving the car into the general hospital twice looking for her. She called me thrice on my mobile and once to our house, thinking I had gone back home. She even thought I had an accident! All the time, I was just outside the hospital complex, waiting in the carpark next to the prison. Fortunately, she saw the car as she was about to walk back home.
We compared notes amid accusations of not answering calls and so on. I told her that I did not even call my friend to check on stock prices because of expecting her call at any moment. She tried calling my number again, and there was no ringing tone. I called her number (Maxis) and it was the same. I recalled when checking my phone while waiting, having seen the 'signal bar' full, but with an additional underline with that of 'no signal', whatever that meant at the time.
We went back and I tried calling our house phone, no response. I took out the sim card and put it back in again, and it worked. Soon after, there were messages of all the earlier missed calls, followed by unsolicited messages which I deleted without opening them.
I cannot help feeling, Digi has a team of staff with specific tasks of generating more revenues for the company by deliberately disabling or making it difficult for subscribers to call their F&F numbers. If so, please don't do that anymore. It nearly created a row between husband and wife, and I dread to think what could have happened if there was a real life and death emergency requiring contact between two persons.
