I have to be careful how I word this.
My wife has been good to allow our former house-worker’s ‘children’ to work for us as part-time cleaners. She had not been lucky, having been widowed at a fairly young age and now having two mentally challenged children to look after, plus a child from one of them – result of a broken marriage. What was supposed to be relief turned out to be additional burden. Though the grandson is expected to look after his mother in her old age, she is not optimistic that he will definitely be good.
The older brother is epileptic and a bit slow, while his younger sister is also slow. Both, in the thirties, have been working at home earning meagre amounts from piecework, at the rate of Rm3 per 1,000! Basically, the work involves packing small items into plastic bags. SP was more concerned about their being kept at home which is not very healthy socially too.
The sister cannot be relied upon to come on her own because she would not be able to remember her way back! Therefore, her brother has to accompany her and also share the work and pay, which is better than what they had been doing.
I am expected to overlook some small mistakes like upturned furniture not put back in place, corners not properly cleaned and so on. With the many small collectibles, even the mother had agreed during her time, not to clean those in case they are broken so I had to do those at my own time and when I am in the mood. The most recent mistake was leaving the back door wide open! I would have been worried if not for the two dogs.
It is therefore not very nice to post the following (because I take offence to the title), if not for the information on health relating to it:

How should we judge a government?
In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!
"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain
Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham
"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan
