war? La la la life goes on...
Desmond has a barrow in the market place
Molly is the singer in a band ...
Was in our Leeds office when a colleague said to our boss across the general office, "I couldn't get Desmond in London..."
I said to those near me, "Did you try the market place?". It was funny then.
I digressed from my topic 'Obama' as a name. To be correct, many like myself, use Obama like a first name when the new President of USA should be called Barack instead. Perhaps it is easier to remember and refer by Obama, which incidently is a place name in Japan!
I am sure there will be an increase in the use of the name when naming newborn babies, like everything else in vogue at a certain period of time. Imagine Obama Ong instead of Omar or Oliver!
Osama, since the 911 terrorist attack, must have been a name to avoid, to avoid any inconvenience at international airports, especially in the west. Even 'Bin' which is common in Malay names (for 'son of') can be mistaken for any connection with Bin Ladin, just to show how little the westerners know about muslim names. Even 'a/l' or 'son of' in Malay language, which is common in Indian names in Malaysia, can be mistaken for 'al' as in 'al Qaeda'!
So it is Obama, for a change, which is going to be a popular name... believe me.
How should we judge a government?
In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!
"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain
Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham
"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan
