How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

Cannot help denying he was trespassing...

There are many jokes being forwarded to me, and I tried not to spread racist ones but I could not resist this, because it reminds me of a real incident:

“Hey, do you know you are trespassing?
Sikh answered : No, I'm Jaspar Singh”

A couple of years ago, one of the estates under my wife’s supervision had a tractor with some lorries carrying out logging work. Upon questioning, the worker said the land-locked land, which they are working on, now belongs to a Punjabi doctor. My wife recognised the name as that of her former classmate. But she was furious that he actually trespassed into the land without the courtesy of asking for permission first.

A meeting was arranged at the company secretary’s office. My wife spelled out the terms and conditions for the right of way as based on her experience, the roads would be damaged and once they are out, she would have nothing to hold them to repair the roads.

In the midst of the arguments, I asked the doctor, ‘Do you know you were trespassing?’

‘What trespassing?’ feigning ignorance, pointing to the contractor. Well, near enough to remind me of the joke somehow. But it was not funny then, as I cannot accept a medical doctor not knowing about basic rules on right of way after buying a land-locked piece of land.
