How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

Ah Jib Kor, iM4U

Tan Sri Datuk Seri Datuk Michelle Yeoh must be the most awarded former Miss Malaysia ever.

She was awarded Datuk title (DPMP) in 2001, then Datuk Seri title (SPMP) in 2012, by Sultan of Perak.

On June 1 this year, she was awarded Tan Sri title (PSM) by DYMM Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Never has any awardee been the subject of so much controversies before, and one cannot escape being described as 'jealous' or 'sour grape' for criticising on the lack of merit.

Most of the criticisms were related to politics, because at a record-breaking 6,000-table dinner in Port Klang just before GE13, organized by cronies of PM, Datuk Seri Michelle Yeoh openly cajoled the diners to support PM Najib and to vote for BN. This automatically angered most of the supporters of Pakatan Rakyat who watched it on tv or in websites or read it in newspapers. However, the election results had proven Pakatan to be winners on popular votes, though not on number of seats. That Michelle Yeoh's call did not translate into votes was obvious, and even confirmed by Najib's description, 'Chinese Tsunami', yet her Tan Sri-ship was 'ditepati' or honoured. So what was the reason for rewarding her if not for bringing in the votes?

When Pak Lah was PM, he was also charmed by Michelle Yeoh, with many photos as proof. Therefore, it is unsurprising that Najib did not want to lose out on such opportunities too, since he remains as PM (despite his so-called Chinese tsunami), with all the powers intact.

PM Najib had just appointed Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh, Mentor of iM4U (1Malaysia for Youth), a post which to many is just a sinecure one involving public relations which is second nature to her. Come to think of it, now that she has direct contact with PM, she should be an invaluable asset to any large company as a director. Just imagine the kind of mega contracts she is able to bring in, or problems which can be solved, by just a telephone call to PM! Wonder what Rosmah think of this.
