"My wife had earlier disagreed with me when I told her that I was considering contesting the Tambun parliamentary seat in Perak,' he was quoted as saying by the Star in Penang.
"She said the people of Permatang Pauh were loyalists and diehard supporters who had stood by her and PKR through thick and thin all these years."

It is the best reason for staying put. Detractors will say he is afraid to lose in Perak. It is a pity Zahid Hamidi can now turn round and say his 'bury Anwar' boast worked, so does Husni (ex-MP of Tambun), who might think Anwar is afraid to stand against him. But in this Mother of all GEs, personal pride should not get in the way of overall objective of winning at federal level.
We have seen how certain proposed contests (like in boxing or wrestling matches) were only good to excite the audience, not really practical in terms of strategies. There was Lim Guan Eng vs Teng Chang Yeow; Lim Kit Siang vs Dr Mahathir; Anwar vs Zahid Hamidi; and so on. It is definitely not the time to test individual popularity at certain constituencies, just to prove something or to boost egos. This GE is now or never for Pakatan to takeover Putrajaya.
