How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

1Apology unaccepted

Unlike his mentor, Najib made apologies for BN's past mistakes. Sorry seems to be the easiest word for him. But immediate responses from people suggest they do not believe in his sincerity because he had three years to make amends but did not. Even his Deputy was quick to play down his apology in the true arrogant spirit of Umno of not having to say sorry. Something to do with Ketuanan, I think.

I believe Najib is willing to do anything just to stay in power. So far, he had distributed public money to people to gain support. He does 'walkabouts' to show he is approachable. He has even apologized, but nothing of substance could be seen in terms of improving on transparency and accountability in mega projects, where public funds are being used to benefit party, leaders and cronies.
