Just like the mathematical riddle: a 14-member coalition, a 3-member coalition, and a bunch of bloggers, fighting for 11 days, who won? Answer: The Kuala Terengganu people!
Whether PAS or BN wins this by-election, the result of a buy-election is naturally the people of Kuala Terengganu. Just imagine the development within the 11 days, and promises of more in the pipeline. The spill-over effects of the food and services required for the VVIPs and their hanger-ons must have been huge. Most locals must be laughing all the way to the bank.
I would personally place my bet on PAS because of the usual unfair practices by the ruling party which would have put off fair-minded people. The unrelenting work of Raja Petra and Bernard Khoo, just to name two of the famous bloggers and the support given by PKR and DAP leaders would have made a lot of difference. The picture of Nik Aziz and Zaid Ibrahim at a DAP event must have been heart-warming to the fence-sitters.
Ong Kian Ming has predicted a PAS win of 7,000 majority and I am sure many people would like to see how good he is at his intelligent guestimate. My hunch is 5,000, based on ESP, if you like! As far as Hudud law is concerned, if the Chinese in KT are like me, we shall cross the bridge when we come to it.
