Mark Zuckerberg changed his status on Facebook

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg updated his status to "married" on Saturday.

Zuckerberg and 27-year-old Priscilla Chan tied the knot at a small ceremony at his Palo Alto, Calif., home, capping a busy week for the couple, according to a guest authorized to speak for the couple. The person spoke only on the condition of anonymity.

Zuckerberg took his company public in one of the most anticipated stock offerings in Wall Street history Friday. And Chan graduated from medical school at the University of California, San Francisco, on Monday, the same day Zuckerberg turned 28, the person said.

The couple met at Harvard and have been together for more than nine years, the person said.

Zuckerberg designed the ring featuring "a very simple ruby," according to the person.

The ceremony took place in Zuckerberg's backyard before fewer than 100 guests, including Facebook's chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg.

The guests all thought they were coming to celebrate Chan's graduation but were told after they arrived that the event was in fact a wedding.

For someone who does not have a smartphone, the latter device appears one up on others with the 3-D effect eg. icons on a cube or spiral, instead of the usual: from left to right or top to bottom and vice versa.

If you think I am way behind, your are right, but my regular breakfast 'kaki' can still survive without even a cell phone! Well, his wife could get him, if necessary, via ours. So, like being rich or poor, it is relative to who we are comparing with. Another 'kaki' who is less informed than me on IT (both do not use the computer) said his son in US thinks Blackberry is still best for professionals. So a lot depends on our requirements, though there are some people who bought things just to keep up with the Joneses. Such people probably use 1% of the phone's features. There is a man with a new Merc who could not even switch on the radio when asked by his passenger!

A bit on Jon Bon Jovi's Soul Kitchen

This was the first song  in a VCD compilation of Pavarotti & Friends in concert for Liberia 98 which got me hooked on songs which combined classical and pop vocals. It was also the first time I got to know Jon Bon Jovi the pop star. Never mind the fact that 'everybody in US knows Jon' said Bill Clinton in an interview. He complimented Jon as 'having great personality, great music and great stage presence' or something to that effect. When asked whose job was better (President of US or Pop singer), Jon said his was better because 'I get to keep the house and the plane'!

Well, again I chanced upon this tv program on CNBC (I forgot about the channel for months!) and saw this handsome man who looks like Jon Bon Jovi. It was about Soul Kitchen, and I had to watch more before confirming that it was him. For DIGP's info on burger protest

Most people who read the news about Deputy IGP's statement that the burger protest in front of Ambiga's house had not broken any law, knew it could not be true, though it would be difficult to quote any by-laws without doing some research.

As expected, according to a Malaysiakini report, at a press conference with other Pakatan representatives, Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng said,

"he could find no law that allows the ‘burger protest’ in front of Bersih co-chairperson S Ambiga’s house, but has instead found three laws that render such acts illegal."

He quoted Section 46 of the Street, Drainage and Building Act that bars the placing of “obstructions” in public places, with a penalty of a fine up to RM500 on the first offence.

He added that according to Section 110 of the Road Transport Act, anything placed on a road or interfering with the flow of traffic shall be liable of a fine not exceeding RM1,000.

Lim (left) also quoted Section 80 of Local Government Act that compels local authorities to take action to “remove, put down and abate” public nuisances.

Odin In addition to MP Lim Lip Eng's input, here is another piece of information that shows the bias against Akka Ambiga. According to FMT's report posted on 16 May, lawyer K Shanmuga has said that the protesters violated the Licensing of Hawkers and Stalls (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) 1989. The by-laws stipulate that hawkers are allowed to operate only at certain locations, that DBKL does not issue roving licence, and that bylaw 11(1) states that a stall licence should be in respect of a specified site, while by-law 22(2) states that itinerant hawkers cannot remain stationary in any place except when selling food. FMT has sent an email to DBKL regarding this matter, but no response has been forthcoming. That's only to be expected, isn't it?
