Mother knows best how the name should be pronounced

My late sister-in-law was a staff nurse for many years in the Maternity ward, Batu Gajah General Hospital. I can still recall one of the funny instances she mentioned before ...
like the mother who wasn't prepared with a name for the baby when asked. She replied in Cantonese: 'Lei On' (you name it) and the name was registered as 'Lee Onn'!

In America, how would you pronounce this child's name?

"Le-a"

Leah?? NO
Lee - A?? NOPE
Lay - a?? NO
Lei?? Guess Again.

This child attends a school in Kansas City, Mo. Her mother is irate because everyone is getting her name wrong.

It's pronounced "Ledasha". When the Mother was asked about the pronunciation of the name, she said, "the dash don't be silent."

I'm afraid she is going to have a lifelong problem with that name!
