For Psychic Octopus's Prediction on Germany vs Spain:
Update on 10 July, from The Star:
Paul picks Spain but Mani’s on Holland for World Cup
Octopus vs Parakeet: which psychic will win? I wish the Parakeet is right because of Holland, and to be honest, having known how my mother used to talk about the parakeet's fortune telling, I have more faith in it!
Update on 11 July at 7.33 pm.
Will try and stay up for the first time at 2.30 am Malaysian time, to watch the final between Holland and Spain.
My take on Paul the Octopus (if you have not had enough of it yet):
He was right 6 times (5 German victories and 1 defeat to Spain). All matches involved Germany. I take it that he was familiar with the German flag and the food that goes with it for 5 times until he got fed up and change to Spain! Now that Spain is playing against Holland, he chose Spain because of familiarity (remember the food?) instead of Holland which was totally new to him. I guess he would have chosen Spain for the next 3 times, like what he did for Germany before he decides to change to another flag, though there is none after the Final.
On the other hand, the parakeet Mani in Singapore, is used to choosing a playing card when telling fortune. There is no food at the time of choosing, maybe after that. Having seen housewives of yesteryears falling for such a way of fortune telling (by word of mouth?), I am taking the chance of Holland winning this Final match.
Sorry... was hoping that Cheng could celebrate with Holland on her birthday!
