There are people who helped others but expected them to return their favours. I believe charity should go round instead of being stuck in a 'I help you now, you owe me one' or worse than that, some people expect eternal gratitude for a favour done! Like what BN is expecting of government scholars as though the money comes from the party!
Soon after reading about Koon's on-the-spot cheque for Rm200,000 to help Pakatan's legal tussle in Perak, it is not surprising to know that he has been sponsoring many students in higher education with no strings attached.
His well articulated article on the Great Malaysian Brain Drain in CPI should be read by those in charge of providing scholarships to students pursuing higher education:
Beng, are you from Penang? Penang is my hometown.....been in Singapore for the past 27 years.
ReplyDeleteMy school - Convent Green Lane, Penang.
I go back to Penang at least once a year during Chinese New Year or during my koko's birthday in November.
Thanks for your interesting articles. Enjoy reading them!
Sorry, you got my name wrong. Kosong is an acronym of my name and I am stuck with being in an empty state financially. Beng could be someone who commented in one of my posts.
ReplyDeleteBorn and bred in KL but moved to Batu Gajah. Been to Penang quite often lately, hoping to catch Lim Guan Eng having meals in hawker centre without success. The nearest was having seen one of his Exco members, Chow Kon Yeow at the Little Penang Street Market.
Green Lane reminds me of the lane you chooses when going through Customs and if you are unlucky, they will check everything. A Penang relative actually used a ploy of having an x-rated magazine placed on top of her stuff. It seems upon seeing it, the officer is likely to confiscate it and wave her on!
