This is our society

Just before nomination day, I don't envy people like Najib (as President of Umno; Chairman of Barisan Nasional, a coalition of 14 parties; ex-PM of Malaysia), and leaders of the three-partner coalition of Pakatan Rakyat, simply because there only 222 parliamentary seats and 505 state seats, but thousands of potential candidates vying to stand for election.

There are clear winnable candidates who have clean and proven track record, stature and popularity among the people. There are hopefuls and wannabees craving for their first attempt, having worked hard and waiting to be discovered by party leaders. There are leaders of different communities who assume the responsibilities of looking after their communal interests. There are turncoats who still think they are able to win like before. There are so many variables of different people with different ambitions and aspirations, some realistic while some are just for publicity (like the old Malay lady for instance).

How can the decision-makers please everyone? Impossible! I have not even mention the critics!

The following cartoon comes to mind, and this is just dealing with one mule and two passengers...
