When overpraising becomes sarcasm

'Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad has suggested that Rosmah Mansor’s biography be distributed to schools as a guide for future generations “100 or 200 years from now”.'

    Does Dr M mean that the book should not be read till then? Then it would be treated a fairy tale.

  2. With sarcasm, it can have different meanings, depending on what the person was actually thinking then. It could even be a sincere statement taken as being sarcastic!

    For eg., it could mean the book is such a classic that it should be used as a text book (like literature) for at least 100 years, when in fact he said it to mean otherwise. I am sure for those people who take it as sarcasm, it was because of Rosmah's image as someone all out for publicity and there is nothing literary about the book because of the many pictures.
