Austin 7 bearing registration B 2405 revisited

Out of the blue, I received an email from Tim. I was not concerned about the oral agreement giving my late father the pre-emption right to buy the car if and when his late father wanted to sell, which he rightly said it should not extend to his father's next of kin. But I am most disappointed about the way he described the 1928 vintage car as '...it's the cheapest piece of Vintage, 4-wheeled shit on the UK roads. One could get it for as low as 1kGBP to 5kGBP...'

Hi

I came across some old blogs of yours inquiring about the A7, Reg:B2405, once belonged to your dad.

You seem to be barking up the wrong tree. Alex was never involved with the A7 at any time the car was with my late dad. The person whom you should be talking to is me, Tim.

The so-called agreement between your dad and mine was never meant to be extended to the next of kin. Hence, since I took over the car with no idea that such an agreement ever existed, I felt free to dispose of the vehicle anyway I saw fit.

If you seriously need to know the current id of the owner, just go to JPJ and get a printout for a fee although I doubt you could it off the hands of the present owners.

Yo! by the way, the A7 is not worth RM100k lah. In fact, it's the cheapest piece of Vintage, 4-wheeled shit on the UK roads. One could get it for as low as 1kGBP to 5kGBP, minus shipping and tax which will hardly come to RM20 or RM30k most.

If the current owners placed a RM100k on the jalopy, then the proverb of the 2 parts of the brain not having anything right or left in it, should apply.

Cheers

tim

  1. Yo! Thanks for posting my letter verbatim in your blog but disappointed that you felt the same about my description of the A7. They made them by the 'zillions' just like the Model Ts and hence worth only a 'few pennies' to the ignorance of our local joes who like to think they are the next Gates just by owning one.

I'm sure your dad owned it for practical reasons just like mine who also used it for practical reasons initially and turned looking after it, a full-time hobby, displaying it at shows, participating at rallies and such. Selling it was never in his mind till his last breath. Even said he wanted to be buried WITH it which our local municipal hoped was a joke. Anyway when a good offer came along, I never said NO and the rest is history.

By the way, since you love all things mechanical, would you be keen on owning a brand-new Modenas Ctric ? Fully electric. No gas, no plugs, no exhaust, no smoke, no jack......http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=ST&f=113&t=2162932
