Why only Ku Li? Many people who were impressed with Ku Li's objective statements recently have questioned why his loyalty remains with Umno. How could he expect people to accept him as PM if ever Pakatan wins when he cannot even decide which side he wants to be on? Ku Li had his quest for power within Umno and later under S46 but lost, and now it is Anwar's turn to try to achieve what Ku Li had failed. I think it would be hard for leaders in Pakatan to accept Ku Li as if there are no leaders worthy to become PM of Malaysia. I can understand the writer's views based on Malaysia's unique circumstances, but surely a popular choice by the people is not necessarily unacceptable to the Malay rulers. The political reality is such that the majority of the voters are Malays and the PM is expected to be a Malay. The only thing I can think of is that a new government with stated objectives of transparency and accountability might mean tighter controls on expenses which are deemed pompous and superfluous, something our Rulers might not be accustomed to.
