When we arrived at Swiss Garden Hotel in Damai Laut, we could not help noticing 2 Porches and 1 BMW Z4 parked at the exclusive parking lots under the porch, and further noticed that the 3 cars bearing Penang registration letters and the same numbers 3288.
After lunch, as we were driving past the open car park on the right, I noticed a Honda Accord with the same numbers, then more than 10 cars with the same numbers too! Later, my daughter called to say they have seen a notice board with 'YK' and her friend actually counted 20 cars with the same numbers. When I got back on Saturday, I could not help searching internet for YK, but none the wiser.
I have just got a call from Nee that it was YEP Partners and they were having a motivational course in Swiss Garden Hotel! It seems when they were at the beach, the employees were wearing YEP 3288 T-shirts and overheard some of them calling someone Mr. Yap.
I must say, the organization has impressed us with the display of expensive cars which would have gone unnoticed had they been registered under different numbers. But '3288' which is auspicious in Cantonese as they sound like 'sang yi fart fart' (excuse the spelling) which means 'business prosperous'. Well, they seem highly successful based on the display of expensive company cars, but the management sure took a lot of trouble and especially time to wait for the same numbers for so many cars.
I cannot help wondering why a Penang company or firm would come all the way to Damai Laut which is basically another seaside resort with golf club, if not for the better facilities at this award-winning Swiss Garden Hotel. An insult to Penang hotels? Or to show off their trademark 3288 to those in other states which they have succeeded, in us?
