'Know All' is likely to remind those seniors who used to read English papers (not sure if it was Malay Mail) where there was a column featuring questions asked and answers given by the columnist. Then there was SH Tan with his usual saucy jokes (mild by today's standard) and his favourite term SYT or Sweet Young Things to describe beautiful girls. Well, he married a younger lady much to our envy, I guess.
Anyway, recently I was asked for information which made me feel like 'Know All'. First, an ex-classmate asked me for direction to Ipoh's original White Coffee, Sin Yin Loong coffee shop, because his friend was coming up to Ipoh the next day. This classmate has been to Ipoh, even did a survey for his bus company, yet would now and again, ask me for directions to Wah Chai restaurant in Menglembu (seems so long ago since I was last there), or which was the best route to take to join NSE. Then I got a surprise call from a niece, who was with her husband in Penang. They were on their way back to KL and wanted to know how to get to the famous Salted Chicken which I took them before! I had to give directions from the NSE exit to somewhere near the police station where they will ask again. Closer to home, I was even asked for bank account number, by the account holder who was at a seminar!
Anyway, when people still ask for basic directions, it is safe to assume that we are still far from common GPS usage. It is not strange. Despite having mobile phones, there are people who would just turn up at a house, shop or whatever place, and find that the place is closed or the person was not around.
