My tale on dog licence in Batu Gajah

A few years ago, my wife said I should buy a licence for our dog from the local Post Office. I made a fool of myself when I asked at the counter, 'Nak beli lesen untuk anjing atas nama...' The Malay woman couldn't help sniggering and laughing with her colleagues.

Fast forward to last year, our Majlis or local council came up with a bright idea of selling dog licences proactively, by going round to houses with dogs and giving them notices of the new requirement to buy them at the new building. It required filling a standard form and I had to fill it on behalf of my wife, the owner. I had problem then of filling it for two semi-dees with two dogs which at any one time could be at either of the houses! I might get into trouble if I filled the details as if one dog for each house.

Just a few days ago, I had a few errands which included buying fresh milk and dog licences. I called up my friend in MDBG and he confirmed that I need to fill up a form again. So I had to go back to the house first to put the milk in the fridge before going there. Sure enough, I had to fill in the same form, again on behalf of the owner, my wife. I complained about this silly procedure since they have our details in their record. In fact, 'renewing' dog licence turned out to be more troublesome than renewing my driving licence! Because of this, on my way back, I realized that I did not fill in according to what I did last year ie. making it clear that the two licences were meant for 2 dogs in two houses!

Besides, the new requirement is not too far off from 'nak beli lesen untuk anjing atas nama...' (need to buy dog licence under the name...) which seemed so hilarious a few years ago!
