Speedy Gone Zaid

before you can say, Christopher Robinson, he is gone!

From a political point of view, Zaid Ibrahim seems too impatient. Many people, including myself, have been let down by the turn of events in the run-up to the PKR elections. He looked promising enough to be able to carry out reforms within the party as well as tightening up the loose coalition of the three parties within Pakatan Rakyat.

Even Nurul must have been convinced that he is going to add substance to the party. At one stage, there was confusion because of differences within the family over who to support.

Zorro Unmasked went out of his way to support his candidacy for the post of Deputy President. I had expressed support for both Azmin and him, each having his own qualities, and mentioned that the people are watching the campaigning, as well as how the losers will behave after the contest. By quitting even before the race is completed seems to confirm that he lacks competitive spirit and shows every sign of a sore loser if he stayed till the result was announced. To ask for Azmin and Anwar to quit instead shows disrespect not only for them but for the whole party because such decisions should be decided by the members. He seems too big for the party.

Some commentators have even expressed that had he won the by-election in Hulu Selangor, he would have jumped ship! With the benefit of hindsight, patience and loyalty seem vital qualities which we should expect from political leaders.
