If you own the bus company,

would you take the bus?

Many bosses would be too status conscious to even consider taking the bus, even if they owned them. But not my friend. What he related to us tonight really surprised us.

Imagine both husband and wife had to take a bus ride from Singapore. His staff suggested that they arranged something for them, like giving them priority over other passengers. But he would not have any of that because his customers come first. After waiting for last minute 'no show', there was only one vacant seat. So his wife took the seat while big boss sat on the steps!

On the way, the driver got information that another of their bus has a vacant seat. They decided to go their separate ways, each taking a different bus!

I think his decision was most admirable and exemplary for other bosses to emulate, but I doubt anybody else would have done what he did. Most likely scenario would be ordering his staff to do something so that husband and wife get first priority since they own the company. In fact, others are likely to be so detached from day-to-day running of the business that taking their own bus under any circumstances would not occur in the first place. Other options include taking a flight back, renting a car, hire a limousine, and so on.
