A town, a boundary and a city...

Whenever I join my wife on her trip to Selama, it amazes me because of the route we take: exit from North-South Expressway to go to Serdang, then Selama, Kedah before we arrive at Selama, Perak! I am so used to the idea that Kedah is north of Perak!

Anyway, Selama town straddles part of Perak and Kedah, under different state administrations, depending on where your house or shop is. Some differences include Sunday holiday for Perak but not for Kedah. You can see schoolchildren on a Sunday in Kedah! Licences for certain businesses are very different in the 'same town'.

The following picture is supposed to be a boundary separating Canada from USA - two very large countries in the continent of North America.

Imagine a city with the influence of two very different continents:

Istanbul, Turkey, is the only city in the world located on two continents.
