Datukship only for BN?

It is becoming so obvious that 'even a blind can see'!

Chua Jui Meng is being asked to return his datukships awarded by Johore Sultan. This seems to be related to his joining Pakatan Rakyat recently, after all he has done nothing wrong.

Hee Yit Foong received her Datukship from Perak Sultan recently, after her 'MB-maker' role in Perak. She used to be in Pakatan until she jumped ship to make the power grab in Perak possible.

So a trend has started to ensure that only BN representatives should have datukships? These unnecessary actions would alienate the royals from the people should Pakatan gather more supporters in the future.

We all know political leaders within a state nominate who should be getting honorific titles, but this does not exclude the wishes of the Sultan concerned. There were cases of royal intervention to honour or refuse to honour based on proposals by a Menteri Besar.

So far, Karpal Singh, Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng stood out as those who are eligible but refused to be honoured themselves, based on the power vested in the Chief Minister.

I can still remember years ago, when Dr. Tan Chee Khoon was in a dilemma when he was offered Tan Sri title by the then Agong, the Sultan of Pahang. He spoke out for the royalty, and was even invited to have tea with the previous Sultan of Selangor.
