You say it best... when you say nothing at all

Whenever I call a friend on her mobile phone which has this ring tone of part of Ronan Keating's song, I feel like not saying anything at all!

What comes to mind, unrelated to the song, are phrases like 'Close one eye and shut the other' which really means closing both eyes! But it does sound as though we are dealing with someone who is just closing one eye, which seems half as bad. In other words, not really that bad, if you know what I am getting at.

Then we have, 'Heads I win, tails you lose' which sounds really fair when we are not really listening. Now we must really differentiate that there is a big difference between 'hearing' and 'listening' to what someone has to say. In fact, there is an art to listening!

When I saw today's papers showing our Prime Minister with a large group of his Facebook friends who joined him for tea, supposedly proving that he is very popular, I am not sure whether to take it seriously. As my late mother would put it, 'How many times can you spare your time for me like this?'

I had been to some politicians' 'Open House' and I told myself, not again unless I am desperate for food and for that purpose, I would plan ahead by going extra early to get all the popular stuff like satay!

Our PM could really spare his time for unusual cases, like sometimes to meet university dropout to talk about scholarship. These days, we cannot even meet the person in charge of a government office without knowing him, or at least knowing someone who knows him, or having 'kautim' someone who can arrange to meet him.

Coming back to my subject of 'you say it best when you say nothing at all', can anyone believe the statement of 1 Malaysia where there is a class of people with special privileges, and that no one will be sidelined?

Or that we have freedom of speech, but not after? The police, with recorded speeches of Pakatan leaders acted swiftly to see if there was anything seditious. But the problem with this action was that the majority of the population were unaware until the police highlighted it! So are the police aggravating the matter instead of letting sleeping dogs lie? Unless they are acting with a certain agenda, as widely perceived, of taking orders from political leaders of the day who are really worried of unfavourable news being spread to the masses.
