Pigeon eyes

In Cantonese, the term ‘parkarp ngan’ or pigeon’s eyes refer to those people who goes after others with money, and it follows without saying, after those with power and influence which could bring them lots of money. At least, they like being associated with those rich and famous. Pigeons are known to go to where people feed them. Don't feed them, that's the last you see of them.

This morning, as usual, I was greeted with a large group of pigeons eagerly diving down to the road where our good neighbour feeds them, in the belief that it would bring good karma I suppose. But like, ‘my karma ran over your dogma’, it seems more of a joke, knowing his profession.

According to answers.yahoo.com:
What does this mean "My karma ran over your dogma"?

It's a quite clever comparison of the contradicting philosophies of Christian dogma and eastern spiritualism.

Christians believe that faith in Jesus Christ will absolve them of the consequences of sin. This is dogmatic teaching, because it requires a person to ignore real life experiences, including social structure, judicial systems, and parental teachings, along with biblical examples, proverbs, and parables. (You reap what you sow.)

Eastern philosophy teaches that each person is responsible for their own actions, and that one accumulates good or bad karma (or "reaction") according to their own desires and actions.

"My karma ran over your dogma" suggests that the eastern philosophy is superior, so much so that it "runs over" the philosophy of dogma easily, just as a "car" can easily run over a "dog".

Take it with a pinch of salt, ok? Don't want to start a religious war.

Anyway, I have tried various ways to shoo them away but to no avail. (No, not how Dr. M suggested).

How could I compete with someone who feeds them, to spite me more than anything? Just look at the place the feed was thrown and anybody with a bit of sense could see. Instead of 100 ft of his road frontage, it has to be more on our side! Well, if there is any truth in the karma thing, isn’t he afraid that it actually comes to me instead! A pleasant thought indeed.

But what it brings to my mind is the situation of political parties like MCA, MIC and Gerakan hanging on to Umno for the few ministerial posts. No matter how the voters have been thrashing the candidates from those parties, no way are they going to give up their rice bowls filled with shark’s fin soup and abalone.

‘Insult if they please, at least they show me the money’ seems appropriate.
